Computer-Aided Drafting Technology is a two-year program that prepares men and women with an understanding of drafting techniques as dictated by the manufacturing and construction industries. Skills are developed in the use of drafting tools, CAD software and hardware, and materials used in the drafting and design process. Positive attitudes are developed towards work, interpersonal relations and patterns of personal behavior. Aspects of engineering drafting, residential and commercial architectural drafting, structural steel detailing and civil drafting are used to provide entry-level fundamentals. Students investigate numerous construction methods and materials as well as the standards and regulations that apply. Construction management and surveying skills strengthen their competencies. Graduates of the Computer-Aided Drafting Technology program will be qualified for entry level drafting and related positions within architectural and engineering firms, general contracting companies, manufacturing and processing plants, surveying firms and state and federal agencies. |
