Student Satisfaction Committee:  Composed of members from all departments/areas of the college and a minimum of two students, this committee focuses on students’ satisfaction with their total college experience.  An annual satisfaction assessment utilizing the Student Satisfactory Inventory™ is conducted and analyzed by the committee with the follow-up data collection and assessment completed as necessary.  The committee is responsible for receiving and sharing input from and with all campus sectors and for making recommendations for improvement to the college president.  The committee will work closely with campus MIS staff to monitor campus retention efforts as outlined in the MCCS retention benchmarking report and to coordinate campus-based retention activities.  Committee assignments shall be for a period of no shorter than 2 years (students excepted) due to the volume and complexity of data to be acted upon.  This committee will utilize a discrepancy-based decision making model as its action philosophy and, due to the process nature of the committee’s focus, will seek consensus versus majority rule.  The dean of students will act a the committee liaison to the management team.

Meeting Minutes

September 23, 2008

I.             Laura and Gail agreed to serve as committee co-chairs.  Shelli agreed to serve as committee secretary.

II.           The members present reviewed the charge of the committee.  Bill shared some historical background on the purpose and work of the committee, and the instruments the college uses to collect student satisfaction data.  For the last several years NMCC has administered both the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) and the Student Satisfaction Inventory (SSI).  The administration of both instruments annually was possible due to some grant monies available to the college.  Beginning this year, the instruments will be administered every other year, the CCSSE in the spring semester and the SSI in the fall.  The charge will need to be revised to include the CCSSE.

III.         The committee as a whole will reassume the responsibility of administering the instruments. There was some discussion about how and when the instruments would be administered.  An electronic administration is now available for the SSI.

IV.          Bill will forward an electronic copy of the fall 2007 SSI data and the spring 2008 CCSSE data for the committee to review prior to the next meeting.

V.            The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 27th, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. in the classroom adjacent to the Academic Success Center.  The committee will discuss last year’s data and make decisions on which items to address this year.
