We have 4 new members on this committee - Ron Fitzgerald, Jennifer Graham, Rick Taggett and Cole Davenport (Student representative).

We will be working on several new policies that have been written and review previous policies such as bloodborne pathogens and lockout/tagout by spring.

Tim recommended a test message be sent out from Instant Alert to make sure everyone’s information is updated.

Barry mentioned that Peter Noddin from MMA will be on campus today to go through the annual policy review process and walk through the lab and trade areas.  This is part of how our insurance rate is calculated, we currently score a 4.6 on their scale (5.0 max).  This is not an OSHA requirement, but it helps us show our best practices and how we can improve.    Peter Noddin will be back on campus to train for slip, trips and falls, back injury prevention and VDT.

On September 20th the fire drills were done with no major issues.  Residential Life (Andrews & Snow Hall) was also tested on that day.  There was a minor issue at Andrews Hall with Seacoast Security.  There are new alarms in front and back of Martin building.  Employees may need refresher training for the Evacutrack.  During the Res Life drill Tom also talked to the students about access cards and security issues with vehicles.

On August 24th Res Life completed the AED/CPR/First Aid training.  Also, on August 26th they completed the fire extinguisher training.  Tom will provide a roster of who completed the training to the IT dept.

Dave mentioned the 1910.151 standards require first aid response personnel on site during working hours.  The standards states we need to have someone there within the first 5 minutes until an ambulance arrives. Who do we have and how to contact them?  With construction on campus we must have a responder available.  We may have some instructors that are trained.  We need to run a list of employees that are trained in AED/CPR/First Aid and work from that to identify responder(s).

The first aid kits that we have around campus needs to be serviced. The first aid kits should be serviced annually.

Dean wanted it brought to the committee there were electrical issues in Joe’s lab.  We are waiting for the breakers for the emergency stops from the company.

Judy mentioned the outlet in the training room for the MSDS notebook isn’t working.  Also, food in the bookstore should be dated with a list of ingredients on the package.  Larry mentioned including Rob Ottiviano to the committee as a rep for our food services.

Tim mentioned the smoking hut has been ordered and should arrive within the next 8 weeks.  When the smoking hut is received it should be placed between the Christie and Mailman building.

Tim mentioned there will be a flu clinic on campus, Thursday, October 14th in the Edmunds Conference Center.

The next meeting is scheduled for November 3rd @ 9:00 a.m. in the 3rd floor conference room.
