Campus Communications Chair: Shawn Lahey
Minutes
Communications Committee Meeting Minutes November 13, 2008 9:00 a.m. CE Conference Room Shawn discussed with Dr. Punches the communication committees responsibilities. Dr. Punches would like the committee to keep doing what they have been doing for the past three years as the committee has been on the right track and doing well. Parking issues were discussed. Barry informed the committee that spots would be added at Andrews Hall this week. Extra signs have already been added for College Vehicles behind the Christie Complex. We will not be adding anymore signs near the dorms. We discussed the Instant Alert System it will be tested today. Jason Parent is in charge of sending the information out on the system. A follow up will be done by email and using the campus televisions. It was brought up that we need to inform the campus when new employees are hired. It was suggested to put a picture in the Toward Excellence of each new person with a little bit about them. NMCC Forum was discussed; this is a website that Robert Smith had setup a while ago. It allows student to ask questions or make comments about each area on campus. The Forum will be revisited to make it more user-friendly but staff and faculty will need to keep it updated. Shawn is asking the committee to ask someone in their area to step up and be in charge of the Forum’s section for their area. He would like a name from each committee member before next Thursday, November 20th. There seems to be issues with staff work hours changing and the college employees not being notified of the changes. We would like to see a procedure put in place so that the campus will have better communication on these matters. Kim Ferguson reminded the committee that the college will be hosting a Tea for Lucas Ireland on Monday November 17, @ 9:00 am. Lucas is a senior student in Residential construction. He will be traveling to Ireland in January to study for a semester. Lucas was chosen earlier this year as a recipient of this year’s Mitchell Peace Scholar. Last changed: Nov 19 2008 at 4:45 PM Back |
