Retention Committee
Committee members were given a copy of the mentoring brochure to review. All comments and suggestions can be shared directly with Jonathan Post of PTK or given to Gail Roy and she will forward to PTK members. An updated listing of SSI summary sorted by level of importance was distributed. Members were asked to review and be prepared to discuss at next meeting. Brief overview of the three common read programs on campus this semester. The reading group for The Help met and 22 people attended. Two other reading programs are underway this semester: The Last Boy on Earth led by Laura McPherson and Eric Pelkey, and All Quiet on the Western Front led by Jan Grieco. Through these common reads, students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to read and meet for discussion. Two of these titles have movie tie-ins and Eric Pelkey held movie night with discussion. Upcoming events: Wii tournament sponsored by PTK and Pi Day sponsored by the Arts & Sciences Department. Both events will be held on March 14, 2012 in the Edmunds Conference Room. Events encourage student, faculty, staff participation outside of the classroom. Members were given a copy of the CCSSE Publication: A Matter of Degrees: Promising Practices for Community College Student Success.
