Professional Development

Members: Sarah Stackhouse, Sue Beahm, Robert Carlson, Jennifer Graham, Taylor LeBlanc, Ann Spinney

 Charge:      

The charge of this committee is to develop and implement a comprehensive professional development plan to sustain the career growth of all employees. The committee will examine existing professional development practices and strategies and will explore, propose, support implementation, and evaluate new approaches.  A primary function of this committee is to communicate professional development activities and opportunities to the campus community.

I.      Minutes from the last meeting were approved

II.      Report Out/ Update Lunch & Learn

a)      The March 21st Lunch & Learn on E-mail (Shawn Lahey) was well attended with a good mix of faculty and staff

b)      Elizabeth is tentatively scheduled to present a Lunch & Learn session for staff on April 3rd.  The topic will deal with customer service.

c)      The next Lunch & Learn is scheduled for April 20.  Gail Roy will present on E-readers and borrowing electronic media from the library.

d)     Jennifer G, Penny M & Jan G will tentatively present on Thursday, April 26, covering the topic of using the discussion board feature of E-Racer.

III.      Professional Development Forms

a)      Karl made suggestions for how to move forward with the PD forms. This topic will be discussed further at the next meeting.

b)      Request for Funding form discussion was tabled.

IV.      Communication

a)      Discussion was tabled.

V.      Administrative Days Fall 2012

a)      Discussed the idea of having a workshop day on E-Racer features, with beginner, intermediate and advanced tracks to choose from

b)      Jen will devise a survey for faculty asking which E-racer features they are currently using, and which ones they would like to learn more about. She will circulate the survey among the committee prior to sending to faculty.

VI.      Next meeting will be Thursday, April 19th  at 12 noon in the Library Conference Room.
