I.      Minutes from the last meeting were approved

II.      Report Out/ Update Lunch & Learn

a)      Jen reported that approx. 12 people attended the 2/15 Lunch & Learn on teaching an on-line course. The feedback was positive and nearly half of participants indicated an interest in a session on using the discussion board feature of E-racer. Jen will follow up with faculty that are using this feature and ask them to present later in the semester.

b)      Upcoming Lunch & Learn sessions include: Dealing with Unhappy Students (tentatively scheduled for 4/5/12); E-books (4/20/12) and a session on E-mail (date to be announced). Elizabeth will follow up with Paul LaJoie to schedule a session on hybrid cars. Tom suggested that we look at some sessions that deal with health and wellness, for fall 2012.

III.      Professional Development Forms

a)      In terms of making the professional development form electronic and Jenzebar compatible, Barry suggests using the form as a Word document for one full year to determine if the data we are collecting is in a usable format. At that point, IT could write a version of the form that would “communicate” with Jenzebar.

b)      Elizabeth will revise the current “request for funding” form and bring a draft to the next meeting for input.

IV.      Communication

a)      Elizabeth has not yet met with senior management or department chairs to discuss professional development needs within their respective departments. Elizabeth has participated in a couple of professional development webinars that are archived and can be viewed by committee members who have an interest. There was a brief discussion about the professional development needs of adjunct faculty.

V.      Next meeting will be Thursday, March 22nd at 12 noon in the Library Conference Room.
