The President’s Cabinet met at 3:00 p.m. on July 19, 2010, in the president’s conference area.  Present- Tim Crowley, Bll Egeler, Barry Ingraham, Larry LaPlante, Jason Parent and Diane Peters.

 

Barry Ingraham presented an update on the various facilities projects.  The Andrews Hall project is ongoing and making progress. The next construction meeting on this project is scheduled for July 21.  The Mailman Trades Building project is ahead of schedule.  The campus paving bid has been awarded to Trombley and will begin soon.

 

Barry also reported on the Jenzabar project.  The TT4 training for the business office staff will begin on July 20.  Barry also recommended that a day be scheduled after the process validation for staff from each of the areas do a complete run through using the play system of the Jenzabar process of enrolling a student.  He noted that the IT staff will need to meet with the business office staff to review the programs that Robert Smith has developed for some of the processes.

 

Larry LaPlante reported that the college has completed its FY10 closing.  Currently, the college is dealing with the Governor’s curtailment order.  Larry reported that the format for curtailment is driven by program/personnel elimination.

 

Bill Egeler reported that student affairs had a state audit the week of July 12.  Dr. Egeler noted that Student Affairs is preparing for student orientation which will be held the week of July 26.  He noted that there needs to be a determination of what processes will be available for the orientation and what direction will be given to incoming students to complete their ID cards and other processes which will be delayed due the beginning of classes due to the new software implementation.  

 

President Crowley presented a personnel update. The English instructor and assistant director of admission positions have been filled.  The custodian I position is being finalized and the nursing and welding instructors search process is ongoing.   The college is also looking for a soccer coach.

 

Jason Parent reported that the development office is working on the internal and external communications on the progress of the college’s energy conservation project. Work is also underway in Jason’s area on the new marketing campaign for fall. Advertising has been scaled back on by offering less TV ads, fewer info nights and limited course schedule distribution. Work is also ongoing on the 50 alumni “stars” which will be highlighted for the college’s 50th anniversary.

 

The foundation continues its work with potential donors, including Tom and Betty Conant who plan to donate money for an endowed scholarship.

 

Jason announced that the college will host the Maine Development Foundation Tour breakfast on August 3, 2010.

 

Jason reported that the golf tournament revenue may be slightly down from last year.  He noted that he expects an increase in attendance for the Fall Expo as there is an excellent give away package which includes free fuel, electricity, and food for three months. 

 

President Crowley reported that on July 21 he met with President Clark, the new president of Husson University.  President Clark seemed interested in continuing the relationship between NMCC and Husson.

 

NMCC and UMPI recently signed a collaborative agreement on early childhood education.

 

President Crowley and Jason parent will schedule a time to meet to discuss Lead and the Aroostook Partnership for Progress.

 

Jason Parent will follow-up on the status of the pledged gifts to the foundation by several area businesses.

 

President Crowley reported he continues to work on filling the academic dean position. 

 

The agenda for the fall Administrative Day needs to be developed very soon.
