SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING

January 23, 2013

3rd Floor Conference Room

The committee moved to accept the December minutes.  Tom made a correction to the minutes, on October 30th Res Life had fire extinguisher inspection not fire extinguisher training. In regards to the minutes the committee should follow up on the items that were discussed at the previous meeting.

1)      Old Business

a)       Safety training computer records are coming along slowly. A list is needed of the faculty/staff.  Joyce will get Carl that list.

b)      Linda Mastro reported to Carl & Larry that one staff member had an audiogram test that came back as a hearing shift. A retest with better equipment was conducted within 30 days which did not show a hearing shift.

c)      Security training is every 3rd Friday @ 6:00 a.m, beginning in Feb.

d)     Update electrical policy to allow access to breaker panels by qualified faculty, with appropriate safety equipment.

e)      1st aid policy – Linda Mastro has purchased 5 large units and we need to make 5 boxes for them. Carl will talk to Pam Buck about making boxes for these.  It will be cheaper to have our shops make the boxes; to purchase boxes will cost approximately $2,000 with an alarm.  The boxes come with a key so alarm doesn’t sound.  Change policy from small to big 1st aid kits.  1st aid training has expired; Linda is able to provide the training.
