Charge:  Composed of representatives from each department/area of the college, this committee conducts safety audits as needed of all areas of the college and reports findings to area managers with a copy to the president and vice president.  Recommends to the vice president health and safety training and/or professional development activities, and engages in other action as appropriate to recommend actions to assure a healthy and safe environment for out students and employees

The committee moved to accept the November minutes. In regards to the minutes the committee should follow up on the items that were discussed at the previous meeting.   1. Old Business

  • MSDS computers will be checked during security rounds inspections

  • Fire blanks for automotive and auto collision shops need to be ordered

  • E-stops in diesel and carpentry are completed – they are tested yearly

  • Bureau of Labor Standards

  • SHAPE – Award ceremony will be held on January 22nd

  • MMA grants approved

  • Can apply for grant twice per year

  • Check to see if AED falls under grant

  • Safety Training

  • Training records

  • Entry completed

  • Class completed for new work studies, lab assistants and adjunct faculty

  • Still a few outstanding from nursing (clinical)

  • Auditory test – Wayne Kilcollins has completed the test but hasn’t met with Linda yet

  • Respiratory test – Frank Pytlak needs test

  • Training monthly for maintenance and custodial staff

  • LOTO Authorized Personnel inspections continuing – 13 completed

  • Forklifts class needed for lab assistant

  • Evacutrack training needs to be conducted, Kurt will conduct training

  • Incidents

  • Student cut end of finger on router in Carpentry shop

  • Have student fill out incident report and follow up with Carl

  • Staff member fell in office – no injury

  • Student slipped on banana peel in the lobby, it’s an ongoing case

  1. Safety minutes now on portal

  • Everyone on campus has access to the minutes

  • Check with Derek Langhauser on having minutes accessible to the public

  1. Kurt will be conducting 1st aid, CPR and AED training to all faculty, staff and students, there will be a charge

  2. Safety Symposium – rough draft to be held March 30th – April 1st

  3. Fire alarm activation in Snow Hall

 

Next meeting will be held on February 25th @ 1:00 p.m.
