THE WORK OF THE FACULTY AT NORTHERN MAINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

The following illustrates the typical work performed by NMCC faculty.  It is not inclusive.  Neither is it intended to imply that each faculty member performs each of the items listed, but rather to depict the work that is typically a faculty member’s responsibility.  The most important components listed are those associated with the instructional process and those associated with assuring customer satisfaction.

In accomplishing their work, the faculty are guided by the visions for the MCCS, the college and their department; the mission of the college; the policies and procedures of the MCCS and NMCC; and the faculty bargaining agreement.  The influence, both directly as teachers and indirectly as mentors, which faculty have on students in developing their occupational skills, their attitude toward continued learning, their interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in teams, and their attitudes toward citizenship responsibilities, all demand the highest level of professionalism, ethics, and integrity.
