Program revision --- Emergency Medical Services

Please revise “Psychology/Humanities Elective” to “Humanities Elective” in AAS.

Revision to NMCC General Education Core

Please revise the general education core to present ranges for Math/Science requirements (i.e., 6-8 credit hours) and Communications, Humanities, and Social Sciences requirements (i.e., 12-15 credit hours).  Please eliminate “General Education Elective or Specific General Education Course.”  Total general education core credits should be modified from “22” to “21-22.”

New Course:  MAT 1xx, Applied Mathematics

Please add a new college-level, four-credit mathematics course, Applied Mathematics, to the curriculum.  The prerequisites for this course are MAT 064, Elementary Algebra, or the newly-renumbered Tech Math course).  This course meets the NMCC general education requirement for mathematics in all programs that do not require a higher level of mathematics.

New Course:  PHY 1xx, Physics

Please add a new college-level, four-credit physics course, Physics. The prerequisites for this course are either Applied Mathematics, or the newly renumbered Electrical Math II course (we needn’t list Electrical Math I).  Course meets the NMCC general education science requirement.
 
New Course:  MAT 1xx, Business Mathematics

Please add a new college-level, three-credit mathematics course, Business Mathematics.  This course meets the NMCC general education requirement for mathematics only for those programs not requiring a higher level mathematics course.  This course can be utilized as an elective course for any degree program.

Course Revision:  MAT 017, Technical Math I

Please revise the course name and number of MAT 017, Technical Math I, to MAT 0xx, Technical Mathematics.

Course Revisions: 

Please revise MAT 022 and MAT 023, Electrical/ Electronics Math I and II respectively, to MAT 1xx and MAT 1xy, Electrical Mathematics I and II respectively.  These revised courses meet NMCC general education requirements for mathematics.

Program Revisions:  Diesel Hydraulics Technology, Automotive Technology, Automotive Body Repair, Plumbing and Heating, Residential Construction, and Precision Metals Manufacturing

Please replace MAT 151, College Algebra and Trigonometry, and PHY 155, College Physics, in these six associates programs with MAT, 1xx, Applied Mathematics, and PHY 1xx, Physics, respectively. 



Program Revision:  Computer-Aided Drafting Technology

Please replace PHY 155, College Physics, with PHY 1xx, Physics, in the AAS.
 
Program Revisions:  Electrical Construction and Maintenance, and Computer Electronics

Please remove MAT 151, College Algebra and Trigonometry, and PHY 155, College Physics, from these associate programs, and add the revised Electrical Mathematics courses and PHY 1xx, Physics, to the program.  There will be an increase of 2 credit hours in each program.

Clarify sequencing with Brian McDougal.

Program Revisions:  Plumbing Certificate

Please add ENG 111, English Composition, to the certificate requirements in Plumbing, and replace MAT 017, Technical Math I, with MAT 1xx, Applied Mathematics.

Program Revision:  Machine Tool Certificate

Please replace MAT 125, College Algebra, with MAT 1xx, Applied Mathematics.

Program Revision:  Medical Office Administration

Please replace MAT 125, College Algebra, with MAT 1xx, Business Mathematics, in Medical Office Administration.
