The committee discussed the Environmental Safety & Health policies & procedures.  It was suggested the policies/programs be better organized and included in the Employee Handbook with the new organization structure.  We will forward it to the management team.

Barry mentioned that security cameras have been set up in the Edmunds building, library, Christie building and the conduit in mailman trades building and electrical wing has been started.

Cameras will be placed outside when weather gets warmer.  Security suggested the cameras be placed in the entrances and parking lots.  Only IT and security have access to the cameras.  PIPD can have access if needed.  The cameras are always on, recorded on when motion occurs and is infrared so no light is needed.

Tim mentioned a statement should be put in the policy and procedures manual for the purpose of the cameras.

Larry mentioned the summary of work related injuries and illnesses for the OSHA 300 log was 3 days of restricted work.  The OSHA summary log can be found on the bulletin board.

There were a few MSDS computers stolen and are in the process of being replaced and plan on changing the locking mechanisms.  Dave plans on having his student’s do more hands on with the MSDS computers.

Tom mentioned on his Mars Hill ski trip a student broke their leg and he filed an injury report with Larry.

Judy mentioned rugs in the bookstore are being repaired by P& E Distributors.  Also, in Snow Hall the floor tiles are coming up and there is slate in one of the closets.  This will be put down as a summer project.

Bob Collins and his students are having a fund raiser to raise money for their Detroit trip.  The fundraiser involves smashing a vehicle with a sledgehammer.  It will take place on Wednesday, February 10th in the autobody shop.  Some of the precautions were:

  • Be supervised
  • Controlled rope off area
