Shannon brought the meeting to order and welcomed all committee members.
Shannon informed the committee that Graduation will be taking place on May 13 at 10am at the Presque Isle Forum. The contract and the down payment have been completed.
There are currently 170 graduates with 145 that are planning to attend the graduation ceremony.
The graduating students have filled out the request to graduate form. Shannon has been working on getting the caps and gown order together which will be sent out early next week. She will then be working on getting the caps and gowns for faculty as there are new faculty that will need them.
The Graduation task list was distributed to the committee and reviewed. The tasks were discussed. Shannon asks that anyone who cannot attend the graduation who has a job on the list needs to get in touch with her so she can make any adjustments to the list.
Several of the items on the task list that were discussed:
President Crowley was not present for updates on guest speaker.
Music was the next topic of discussion. The idea was brought to the committee for a song that Ann Spinney had put together for the NMCC school. Griffin will have her do a simple recording to share with the committee for their thoughts. It was discussed whether to have a choir or to have just a single singer do the National Anthem. There was concern that a choir would need more than 2 rehearsals before the ceremony. There was discussion of looking into having the High School choir do the National Anthem. It was mentioned that the Athletic Directors of high schools be reached out to for this possibility.
One photographer has been confirmed- Laurie Buck will be doing the portrait photography. The event committee is still searching for a general photographer.
Artificial plants were discussed- Bri had several options printed out that she thought may work. Matt agreed to allow $750 from the Graduation budget to go towards the artificial plants that could be used for the graduation ceremony.
Next Graduation meeting will be middle of March. Event committee will be meeting between Feb.27th-March 3rd
