Move to accept the minutes of the 10-29-10 meeting (Heidi)

Second (Laura)

All in favor *adequate minutes from the November 6th meeting will be added (Jan)

Colleen had some questions about blind testing and how hard copies are stored.  Laura explained that BLIND means NO NAMES at all for that information released outside of the instructor.

Laura indicated that she has been involved in Assessment in the Public school level since 1991, and that often the results that come from such changes are “thrown out” and this leads to the feelings of apathy for assessment in general.

Jan asked what could be learned, taken away and kept from NEASC and Sue suggested that the have designed templates that could be tweaked and used.

The question was raised if the people working on behalf of the accreditation committee are bound by FERPA.  The group believed that they were, however this question needs to be directed to Dean Egeler.

Recommendations for Curt Naser for the faculty day.

1.     What are the benefits of assessment (W.I.I.F.M.)

2.    Designation of common language, especially around the terms outcome, objective and goal.

3.    Cover the “New” Bloom’s

4.    Finish mapping

Does there need to be a letter from the Assessment committee to the Nursing and Allied Health asking for Hard Copy information about their assessment practices and self reports?

Laura would like to see this year finished with mapping completed and a master list of the KINDS of assessment that are being done.

Dave suggested a checklist format to make this pore palatable for all programs.

Some discussion of using a Jig-Saw with butcher paper as an opening activity of the administrative day and having one per department/program to have the types of assessments currently used “brainstormed”. Other options are break-out sessions for working on mapping and a debriefing at the end of the time allotted.

Jan will check with President Crowley to double check how much time for the day.

*Heidi, note-taker, had to leave at 1:40

Respectfully submitted,

Heidi Smith
