Professional Development

 Charge:      

The charge of this committee is to develop and implement a comprehensive professional development plan to sustain the career growth of all employees. The committee will examine existing professional development practices and strategies and will explore, propose, support implementation, and evaluate new approaches.  A primary function of this committee is to communicate professional development activities and opportunities to the campus community.

The committee reviewed and selected 11 presentation proposals for the Professional Development Day on January 12, 2012.  The presentations fall along 3 strands: Technology, Instructional, and Topics of Interest. The presentations are as follows:

10:15 - 11:00              Gail Roy - Take One Tablet (iPad) and Call Me in the Morning

                                   Shawn Lahey  - Information Technology

                                   Laura McPherson  - Building Essential Skills for the Trades - the Easy Way

                                   Lori Googins   -   Decreasing Stress in the College Student...

 

 

11:15  - 12:00             Tom Richard  -  Take a Walk on the Wild Side: Residential Life

                                   Dave Raymond - E-racer Basics

                                   Laura McPherson - Measuring the Impact of Plato Course on Student Success

                                   Jen Graham  -  Bringing Out the Best in Your Students - Classroom Engagement

 

 

1:15  -  2:00                Pam Buck  -  The 3D Printing Process Utilized in the CAD Program

                                  Shawn Lahey  -  Information Technology

                                  Eric Pelkey   -   Teaching Information Literacy Skills

                                  Tammy Nelson  -  What Do Jay Leno, Michael Phelps...All Have in Common?

 

Dottie agreed to email the presenters with their time slots.  Dottie will work on a registration form (hard copy and electronic versions) and distribute to NMCC employees. The pre-registration deadline is January 5th.  Tom agreed to reserve breakout rooms with Shannon Cook. Joyce Tremblay will work on evaluations.  Dottie and Elizabeth will work on registration packets during the Christmas break.

 

The committee agreed to meet once more prior to January 12. The committee will debrief and review evaluations during the regularly scheduled meeting in January, date TBA.
