b.      course will provide updated technology and has been approved by the advisory committee. 

                        1. Would involve program revisions to CAD (AAS & Certificate)

                        2. Drop DRT115 Engineering Drawing and replace with DRT1xx Mechanical  

                            Drafting and Design

                            Motion made to accept, seconded, and passed

c.       PHI1xx Introduction to Philosophy – would provide students with another humanities

elective choice for Liberal Studies and other programs of study.  Would most likely be offered as a spring semester course and have a prerequisite of ENG111 English Composition.  Motion made to accept, seconded, and passed

d.      ACR2xx Automotive Collision Blueprinting and Estimating(to be implemented fall 2014) – would satisfy NATEF Master Level Certification requirements.  Will also cover insurance coverage, working with appraisers and customers alike.

1.      Would involve removing a currently required Art/Humanities/Social Science elective from the third semester of the AAS program and replacing it with this course - motion made to accept, seconded, and passed It was suggested that the Elective (required in the third semester) and the Humanities Elective (required in the fourth semester) be reversed - Motion made to accept, seconded, and passed

 

 

4.      Course Changes

a.       WPT117 Introduction of Wind Power Industry

-          Change from 2 to 3 credit hours – allowing for additional lecture and lab time to improve course delivery and time to practice concepts.  This change will necessitate the assignment of a new course number and would be effective for the fall 2014 semester - motion made to accept, seconded, and passed

 

5.      Pre-requisite Changes

BUS241 Principles of Marketing

-          Change from COM212 to ENG111 – Instructors agreed that successful completion of ENG111 English Composition was sufficient to enroll in BUS241 Prin of Marketing.  This change would be effective for the fall 2014 semester - motion made to accept, seconded, and passed

ELE210 Electrical Construction

-          Add ELE112 Basic Residential Wiring as a prerequisite and possibly offer it in the spring semester to accommodate students who want to do a double major in Wind Power Technology and Electrical Construction & Maintenance.  This change would be effective for the fall 2014 semester - motion made to accept, seconded, and passed

 

6.      Program Change – Entrepreneurship Certificate

a.       Drop BUS113 Sales Fundamentals

-          Add BUS241 Principles of Marketing – is more in line with the Business Administration Program, providing students with an easy transition into the program.  This change would be effective for the fall 2014 semester - motion made to accept, seconded, and passed
