Meeting Notes

 

The NMCC President’s Cabinet met at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 13, 2010 in the president’s conference area.  Present – Tim Crowley, Bill Egeler, Barry Ingraham, Bill Egeler, and Tom Richard. 

 

President Crowley presented an overview of the draft agenda for the administrative days which would be scheduled for August 25 and 26paper warnings, 2010.  He noted that faculty who trained on Jenzabar this summer (Dwight Clayton, Dick Duplessis, Joe McLaughlin, and Karl Jackson) will be asked to train the remaining faculty on the administrative days.  President Crowley asked the IT staff to be available to assist with any Jenzabar questions during the administrative days.

 

Dr. Egeler noted that faculty will need to address the attendance issues as attendance is not computerized with the new system at this time.

 

There was a discussion of when and how student ID cards will be processed.  Barry Ingraham responded that after the week of August 16, the college will know more of what processes are or are not working with Jennzabar.

 

President Crowley announced that Ron Fitzgerald will retire as of August 31, 2010.  Ron has agreed to return to the college as interim academic dean for the next twelve months.

 

President Crowley will be filling the department chair position for the arts and science department. Other outstanding vacancies include a part-time person for the bookstore, a medical assisting instructor and an accountant I for the business office.

 

President Crowley reported that he is in talks with the city of Presque Isle to lease space at the industrial park for the plumbing and heating program. The college may also be looking at using some of the leased space for the truck driving instruction.

 

President Crowley reported that the Efficiency Maine contract had been signed and the college could move forward with implementing the expenditure of those funds.

 

It was also reported that new chairs have been purchased for room 205.  The old chairs in that room will be moved to Wayne Kilcollins’ classroom, and an additional 25-30 chairs will be ordered.

 

Enrollment reports will be made public be the system office sometime in mid-September.

 

Jason Parent requested time during the next employee meeting to introduce the new marketing campaign to the employees.  Jason reported that his office is currently focused on the Fall and Winter Expo and homecoming.

 

In response to the longevity awards luncheon being postponed, Jason suggested that the luncheon be rescheduled to the Friday prior to Columbus Day.

 

Dr. Egeler reported that he had met with Todd Maynard to discuss TAMC’s request to establish two internships for senior students.

 

Dr. Egeler announced that the college has been awarded a five-year $1.27 million TRIO grant by the U.S. Department of Education.

 

President Crowley has directed that the couches in the hallway adjacent to the bookstore by replaced with chairs. 

 

Barry Ingrahm gave an update on the facilities projects that are underway. He reported that the Andrews project continues to be on schedule and the boiler project in Andrews is progressing.   He reported that the college needs to prepare a plan on how it will meet the current fire code in Andrews Hall.   The lighting phase of the Honeywell project is being completed.  The work on the ball field project should be completed by September 1, 2010.  The Mailman Building project is completed, and new computers have been installed in the computer labs 

 

Larry LaPlante reported that there are issues in the business office with the Jenzabar that are due to system office immigration processes.

 

Larry reported that the college’s budget curtailment plan has been submitted to the system office.  

 

Dr. Egeler reported that enrollment may be slightly down.
