Charge:  Composed of representatives from each department/area of the college, this committee conducts safety audits as needed of all areas of the college and reports findings to area managers with a copy to the president and vice president.  Recommends to the vice president health and safety training and/or professional development activities, and engages in other action as appropriate to recommend actions to assure a healthy and safe environment for out students and employees

The committee moved to accept the March minutes.  In regards to the minutes the committee should follow up on the items that were discussed at the previous meeting. 1)      Old Business

·         MSDS computers in JP Levasseur’s lab aren’t working.  When computers aren’t working a work order needs to be made

·         Fire blankets for automotive and auto collision shops have been ordered.

·         MMA grants

·               Apply for AED’s

·         GFCI’s for custodial have been ordered

·         Safety Training

·         Carl had a safety training session on toolbox safety with maintenance and custodians

·         Carl recommended doing a tool box safety talk with maintenance

·         Forklift class is still needed for lab assistants, Bob Collins and Loren Gordon are trained

·         Evacutrack training attendance wasn’t good, should make the training mandatory or during administrative days for faculty and staff

·         AED’s need to be placed in welding shop, maintenance shop and cafeteria

·         Need system to track training

·         Incidents

·         Student had a seizure

·         What is the process for medical emergencies?  Kurt/Carl will get an email   out on that

·         The ambulance response is an issue, after calling 911 security needs to be    informed

·         Staff member from Little Feathers Daycare got injured on campus.  A report was filled out and the staff member is okay      

·         Policy Review

·         Table it until September

·         Barry reviewed confined spaces but need boiler procedures

·         Need VDT policy

·         Need to change completed dates

                 

 

2)      New Business

·         Carl handed a packet on Workers Compensation statistics packet.  Included in the packet is the grant application, checklist, workers compensation cases
