Review of minutes from March 8, 2012 meeting.   Shelli made a motion to approve the minutes and Eric seconded the approval of minutes.

Brief discussion and update on campus events where faculty, students, and staff meet and interact outside of the classroom.  The PTK Wii bowling tournament and Pi Day event sponsored by Arts & Sciences were held on March 14, 2012 and were well attended and the groups received positive feedback.

A Chronicle of Higher Education special section on Graduation Rates and a link to a new website were distributed.   Members reviewed and discussed.   Links for articles from the Chronicle were distributed and members were asked to read and review and share comments via email.   http://collegecompletion.chronicle.com/

The SSI and CCSSE data has been updated in a spreadsheet format and will be emailed to all members.  Members are asked to please keep this data confidential and note that this information is not to be redistributed.

Bill presented information on possible Melmac projects for the fall.

Norma spoke about financial aid for students and changes in Pell and other sources of funding.

Members discussed the possible common reads for fall and suggested that there be a focus on health and wellness.   Eric recommended the title Unbearable Lightness: A Story of Loss and Gain by Portia de Rossi.

Gail mentioned that the library is seeking funding to purchase either Kindles or Nooks to use for the common read in the fall.   A minimum of 10 would allow for a 14 day circulation period.  The common reads have served as a great way for students, faculty, and staff to interact and read material outside of the classroom.

Bill mentioned that registration will be opening soon and he will include information about assistance from the library and academic success center for students who require help with online registration.

Meeting adjourned at 4:00  pm.
