Subject: Qualification Exam

As the College recognizes that individual students enter NMCC with wide variations in skill levels, qualification exams will be available under the following circumstances:
- By special arrangement with the individual course instructor. A $25 fee is charged.
- The exam is approved prior to administration by the instructor. After completion, the corrected exam will be forwarded to the Vice-President.
- The qualification exam will be given only during the one week add-drop unless approval is given by the department chairperson and Vice-President.
- A grade of “B” or better must be earned on the exam to receive credit for course completion. The transcript will include a grade of “Q” , with full course credit awarded. “Q” grades are not computed in the grade point average.
- The qualification exam is not intended to be used to make up a course failure.
- Specific information regarding this option may be obtained by contacting the Dean of Students.
