Subject: MCCS Annual Program Review

The purpose of this policy is to require the review and reporting, once every five years, of all Board approved certificate, diploma, and degree programs throughout the Maine Community College System. Individual program reviews shall be conducted and reported using the format identified in this policy and adhering to the reporting procedures and timelines.
- The number of programs to be reviewed annually at each college shall be determined by the college president. The number of programs reviewed annually must be adequate to assure that all programs at each college are reviewed within a five-year period.
- All data shall be reported on the form established for that purpose and distributed to all parties indicated on the form.
- All reports shall include responses to the program evaluation factors identified as part of this policy.
- All reports shall be completed and distributed by March 31 of each year.
- Programs which are reviewed as part of an outside accreditation procedure conducted by a recognized accrediting body are exempt from the review requirements of this policy. However, the program evaluation form and data sheet must be completed and submitted according to the procedures outlined herein.
- All reports shall be collected by the Maine Community College System Office and provided to the Educational Policy Committee for its review at its regularly-scheduled committee meeting after March of each year.
- Representatives of those programs being reviewed shall be called as necessary to meet with the Educational Policy Committee to provide clarification on the data and/or reports received.
- Copies of all program reviews shall be maintained at the individual college where the program is offered and at the Maine Community College System Office.
- The program evaluation factors and the program evaluation data collection sheet shall be attached to this policy and maintained in the Maine Community College System Policy Manual.
- Proposed changes in this policy must be reviewed and endorsed by the Presidents' Council and forwarded to the Educational Policy Committee for their consideration.
