MPERS (formerly MSRS) = Maine Public Employees Retirement System (formerly Maine State Retirement System) – Employees who are now members of the MPERS who are employed by NMCC or an agency that is a participant of the MPERS and/or employees who meet the 180 hour rule.  Retired members do not pay into the retirement system.

FTCA/FUTA = Employees who do not belong to the MPERS, who are not students, and who are not retired.

MED = Employees (except students) hired after March 1, 1986 are subject to the Medicare portion of the social security tax.  Employees hire before this date are exempt.

Student employees do not receive fringe benefits.
