Charge: Created from the Affirmative Action Committee, this committee advises the president on matters of equal opportunity and affirmative action as needed. The committee also prepares recommended revisions to data tables reflecting the demographic statistics of the College's service area and recommends professional development activities that will enhance the College's service to underrepresented groups. This committee addresses a number of other activities as outlined in the Affirmative Action Plan.
1. Review minutes of September 25, 2009 meeting (m/s/a)
2. Affirmative Action Policy
a. Written policy distributed and reviewed by committee. Only recommended edit was updating the current NMCC EO Committee members.
b. Discussion regarding distribution to campus employees. Will check to see if it is on portal. Karen Gonya will update PDF file and Mary Cornelio will provide a staff/faculty memo regarding AA policy, where to find policy, questions they may have and contact information (Betsy Harris) if they questions or issues.
3. AA/SH Annual Training
a. Larry LaPlante reported on TAMC, MPG and MMG in house training procedures and discussed the possibility of working on combined effort with one or more of these businesses.
b. EOC to review current AA/SH DVD (next meeting 11/12) to determine if presentation and material still relevant and on-point.
c. Discussion to utilize campus weekly newsletter TOWARDS EXCELLENCE to inform employees of assistance programs and policies that are available to them. Series of short articles to be included, Karen Gonya to write up.
4. NEXT MEETING
a. Next EOC meeting scheduled for November 12, 2008 (time and place TBA) to review the AA/SH DVD.
5. TABLED AGENDA ITEM
a. Mary Cornelio distributed diversity calendar and tabled review and discussion for future meeting.
